Participants from all over Sydney and beyond gathered on Saturday 13th August to take part in City2Surf, the iconic 14km run that begins at Hyde Park, continues through the Sydney CBD and finishes at Bondi Beach.

GO TEAM CURE CANCER AUSTRALIA!

We were absolutely thrilled to see so many members of Team Cure Cancer Australia donning their branded singlets and running for us, with 270 participants raising over $70,000 -  a total which is set to continue to rise. These funds are invaluable in supporting brilliant early-career researchers working across all areas of cancer research and all cancer types.

Our star volunteer, Helen Rubin, helped us to welcome the team back in style at the Cure Cancer Australia beach-side marquee, where our runners enjoyed some well-deserved treats and celebratory fizz. The marquee was kindly sponsored again this year by PSK Financial Services, who also had a team enter the run, raising $1,213 for Cure Cancer Australia.

FABULOUS FUNDRAISING EFFORTS

Our top fundraiser again this year was our fabulous community champion, Dawn Schaffer. Dawn’s team of friends and family raised over $25,000 – well done Team Dawn!

Additionally, a big well done to Michael Schamps, the first Team Cure Cancer Australia runner to finish for us, who ran in memory of his mum who passed away from cancer 20 years ago.

Special mentions also go to:

Caroline Vanzanella - Raised $1,040.90 in honour of her dad who sadly passed from cancer.

Maria Garofano - Raised $1,360 in honour of her dear friend Donna who passed away from cancer.

Nisum Jong - Raised $3,240 by completing a dry August AND September!

Thomas Hutley - Raised $1,611.50 in honour of his father who passed from pancreatic cancer.

Debbie Jacobs – Raised $684.50 after signing up just a couple of days before the race. Debbie (a cancer survivor herself) flew in from Melbourne with a friend to take part in the race. Debbie has also only recently recovered from breaking her back – what a champ!
