Give the Gift of Hope this Cure Cancer Christmas
Yesterday saw the official launch of Cure Cancer Christmas as part of the Sydney Airport Community Christmas Giving Appeal.
Cure Cancer Christmas is finally here, rolling out over the next six weeks as part of the Sydney Airport Community Christmas Giving Appeal!
Running across both the domestic and international airport terminals, as well our digital channels, the appeal kicked off with the Sydney Airport Runway Run, which saw 100 amazing Cure Cancer Australia fundraisers race down one of Sydney Airport’s operational runways to raise money in support of Australia’s brightest, most innovative early-career cancer researchers.
The Gift of hope
Cure Cancer Australia truly believe that innovative perspectives and pioneering research techniques are the key to making this the last generation to die from cancer. That’s why we choose to exclusively fund Australia’s brightest emerging scientists, whose trailblazing research gives us so much hope that we will one day find a cure for all cancers. Over the past 25 years, the relative survival from cancer has improved from 48% to 68% thanks to advances in detection, diagnosis and treatment as a result of evidence-based research*.
For the next six weeks, Cure Cancer Australia will be running a series of exciting activations at the airport to spread this message of hope, including Digital Trees of Hope which were yesterday unveiled in both the Domestic and International terminals. Further underpinning our commitment to innovation, this exciting digital initiative allows anyone to upload their selfie to the trees and spread their personal message of hope.
how to get involved
What’s great about this campaign is that you don’t have to be at the airport to be a part of it. In fact, you can join in from absolutely anywhere! All you have to do is log onto curecancer.com.au/sydney-airport from any device that has a camera, upload your selfie to the tree and make a donation – it’s that easy!
‘This is an incredibly exciting and innovative campaign, and there are so many ways you can get involved and give the gift of hope this Christmas,’ said Floyd Larsen, Cure Cancer Australia CEO. ‘By donating to the campaign, uploading your selfie to the digital tree and sharing your message of hope, you’ll become a part of our mission to make this the last generation to die from cancer.’
The appeal also includes opportunities to donate in-terminal via our dedicated coin-collection volunteers, rotary bins and through Tap-N-Donate machines at participating retailers.
‘We’re really proud of Sydney Airport’s Community Christmas Giving Appeal, which unites the airport and wider community to raise funds for charity,’ says Kerrie Mather, Sydney Airport CEO. ‘This year, we’re thrilled to support Cure Cancer Australia and Australia’s brightest emerging scientists working across all areas of cancer research and all cancer types. Christmas is a time for giving and we encourage everyone to get involved and give the gift of hope to help to find a cure for cancer.’
A big thank you to Sydney Airport for providing us with this opportunity, and believing in what we do. You can donate directly to the appeal here.
