Paul asks Grill’d to contribute $10,000 to Cure Cancer Australia’s BARBECURE campaign

February 2018 – Paul Hogan has settled his legal dispute with Grill’d, with $10,000 going to Cure Cancer Australia’s BARBECURE campaign.

As the BARBECURE campaign’s lead ambassador, Paul Hogan said, “We’ve all lost a friend or a family member to cancer and it’s one of the leading causes of death in Australia. As we get closer to finding a cure, we need to do everything we can to support Australia’s brilliant emerging scientists.”

The CEO of Cure Cancer Australia, Floyd Larsen, was thankful for Paul’s continued support of the BARBECURE campaign and his ongoing commitment as a generous ambassador.

“Paul is a fantastic ambassador for the BARBECURE campaign, as well as promoting Australia to the world. He offers his time for free and is able to garner the support of other high profile Aussies for a greater good. On behalf of Cure Cancer Australia and the BARBECURE campaign, we’d like to thank him for his generous donation.”

Paul recently launched the second year of the BARBECURE campaign, encouraging Australians to turn their summer barbecue into a BARBECURE, a nationwide initiative designed to raise funds to support Australia’s brightest early-career cancer researchers, as they work towards finding a cure.

With a focus on innovation, Cure Cancer Australia has brought Paul Hogan’s famous character to life virtually through the ‘Host with Hoges’ Bot. Donors will be able to register and donate, as well as access inspiring tips for recipes and hosting the perfect BARBECURE this summer all in one place.

While current attention is on Paul, he’s using it as a chance to remind Australians of the positive impact they can make through the BARBECURE campaign.

“We’re asking Aussies to make their summer barbie a BARBECURE, and with support from friends, families and myself via the Bot, help fund the work of innovative early-career, researchers,” said Paul.

“7 in 10 Australian’s use Facebook, the new ‘Host with Hoges’ Bot means we can connect with our supporters like never before. We’ve made it fun and easy for people to be involved and enjoy a delicious BARBECURE with Paul Hogan to raise money for an important cause,” said Floyd Larsen.

One Australian dies every 12 minutes from cancer*. Cure Cancer Australia is dedicated to funding crucial research for all types of cancer from Australia’s emerging minds. As well as providing funding for early-career researchers, the grants also increase their chances of gaining funding from other grant agencies in the future.

“Whether it’s a get together with friends, a family celebration, an office party, at a primary school or after sport at a local park, we’re encouraging people to get together and combine their love of a barbecue with support for a great cause. Who knows – their BARBECURE could fund the cancer research that gives us the breakthrough we need to make this the last generation to die from cancer,” Floyd Larsen added.
