Cure Cancer Australia is delighted to announce Dr Orazio Vittorio as the Sydney Airport Community Christmas Giving Appeal 2 year grant recipient.
Dr Vittorio’s 2018 project is to research neuroblatoma (childhood brain cancer) at Sydney's Children’s Cancer Institute. He himself has in the past been a cancer sufferer and believes he is locked in a personal battle with the disease.
Dr Vittorio received his Master Degree in Biology with Honours from the University of Pisa in 2006 and in February 2011 he was awarded his PhD from the Department of Oncology, Transplants and New Technologies in Medicine at the University of Pisa, Italy.
He presented lectures at the PhD-course of Molecular Biophysics of the Scuola Normale Superiore, at the Course of Orthopaedic Surgery and at the PhD course of Biotechnology and Transplantation of the University of Pisa.
Dr Vittorio joined Australian Centre for Nanomedicine in 2013 when he was awarded a highly competitive Vice Chancellor's Postdoc Research Fellowship from UNSW to conduct his research at Children Cancer Institute of Australia under the mentoring of Professor Maria Kavallaris, one of Cure Cancer Australia's alumna.
