The Summer of BARBECUREs Has Begun!
Summer is finally here, which we all know can only mean one thing. That’s right…it’s BARBECURE season!
Last week's fabulous Red Tie Christmas BARBECURE held at Sydney Airport’s Hawker Pacific Hangar officially launched The Summer of BARBECUREs, and we couldn’t be more excited!
Aussies love a barbie. It’s a great way to get everyone together to enjoy good food and our beautiful weather. That’s why we want everyone to get involved with The Summer of BARBECUREs; a nationwide initiative designed to drive awareness and raise funds to support Australia’s brightest early-career cancer researchers as they work towards finding a cure.
All we’re asking is that you make your next barbie a BARBECURE. A BARBECURE can be anything you want it to be; from backyard to black-tie, beach or corporate. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be a barbecue! All that matters is that you’re bringing people together to have fun and fund research.
This year, we’re thrilled to have all-round Aussie icon Paul Hogan (also known as Crocodile Dundee) back on board as our lead ambassador! In an Australian first, audiences will be able to have a yarn with Paul on our Hosting with Hogan chatbot over on Facebook Messenger. Hoges will be on hand to offer tips and tricks on how to host a ripper BARBECURE – head over to Facebook and try it for yourself!
We’re also delighted to welcome back star of River Cottage and self-sustainable farmer Paul West, who is our BARBECURE ambassador for a second year running. The lovely Luke Mangan, acclaimed chef and restaurateur has also joined us as an ambassador for the first time this year.
The money raised throughout the course of the campaign will help us to continue funding early-career researchers working across ALL areas of cancer research and ALL cancer types.
In the words of our wonderful lead ambassador and Aussie icon Paul Hogan…let’s Cure Cancer, Australia!
