Sydney Airport Runway Run FAQs

 

Registration:   

Once you’ve parked, head to the registration area at Bus Stop E where we’ll assign you your race pack and check your photo ID. Valid forms of identification include a driver’s license or passport for adults and Medicare card or birth certificate for children. You must bring your ID with you on the day. Anyone that cannot be identified at this stage may be refused entry.

 

Buses:             

Buses have been organised to transport participants between the car park and the runway. Please ensure you arrive at 7.15am to allow enough time to complete registration and board the buses. Due to the unique nature of the event, if you miss the bus from the car park you will not be able to participate. Make sure you get race ready with your singlet and sticker whilst on board.

*Note that you will not be able to return to Blu Emu Car Park until the conclusion of the event at approximately 11:30am.

 

The Run:         

You will be running on one of Sydney Airport’s runways which will be closed temporarily for this event. The event will start with a group warm up followed by a series of races suitable for all ages and abilities:

  • 100m Kids Dash

  • 500m Seriously Fun Run

  • 1KM Competitive Run

  • Relay (4 people in a team running 500m each)

The Funday:   

We have some exciting festivities next to the Runway for all the family to enjoy including a visit from Santa, face painting elves, a bouncing castle and lots of yummy food trucks for you to purchase a post-run treat after the race.

 

Storage:          

Bring as little as possible with you to the event as storage of property onsite will not be provided. Any valuable items can be left on the bus which will be secured during the event.  You are welcome to bring your mobile phone with you to the runway, however be aware that your phone is your responsibility.

 

Clothes and preparation:    

Wear comfortable clothes including your running shoes. Please make sure to apply sunscreen before entering the bus. You will be given a water bottle in your run pack at registration. There will be toilets on site at the runway and there are also a small number of toilets located at the entrance to Blu Emu Car Park.

 

Event Cancellation: 

Should we need to cancel the event entirely or postpone for any reason, email and phone communication will be made by 1pm on Friday 23rd November. The event will proceed if there is light rain.

When will the event take place?

The Runway Run will be held on Sunday, 25th November 2018 at 9am. Runners will be required to register in the marshalling area at Blu Emu Car Park at 8:00am for transportation to the airfield.

 

Where will the run take place?

The Runway Run will take place on one of Sydney Airport’s operational runways. Runners will need to arrive at the Blu Emu Car Park before being transported by bus to the runway.

Can anyone participate in the Runway Run?

The run is open to all ages, however people under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by an adult, who must also hold a ticket.

How much does it cost to enter the Runway Run?

Entry to the Runway Run is $95 with all proceeds donated to the Sydney Airport Community Christmas Giving Appeal supporting Cure Cancer Australia.

When do entries close?

Entries close on 23rd November 2018, but with 500 spots available make sure you register now to avoid disappointment.

 

How do I get to the Runway Run?

Runners will need to arrive at Blu Emu Car Park by 8:00am sharp on the day of the race. The Blu Emu Car Park is on Ross Smith Drive and can be reached by car. Please proceed to Bus Stop E.

If you are arriving by public transport, you can take the Blu Emu Car Park shuttle bus from the International and Domestic terminals. For more transport options, please visit www.sydneyairport.com.au

 

WHERE DO I PARK & Is parking covered in the entry cost?

Park in the Blu Emu car park. Take a ticket from the boom gate as you enter and proceed to Bus Stop E, located at the far end of the car park to your left on entry. Validated parking tickets will be available at registration.

 

Where should I go when I arrive?

Once you arrive at Blu Emu Car Park, please make your way to the registration area at Bus Stop E. At the registration area you will have your name marked off and be given your Cure Cancer Australia running singlet. You will then be transported by bus to the runway.

 

Can my family and friends come and watch the race?

Family and friends are more than welcome to attend the run and support participants from the festival area, provided they have purchased a spectator ticket.

 

Where can I leave my belongings when I am racing?

Please bring as little as possible with you to the event as storage of gear onsite will not be provided. Any valuable items such as phones and wallets can be left with friends and family or on the bus during the event. You are welcome to bring your mobile phone with you to the runway however pleased be advised that your phone is your responsibility.

 

Will water be provided?

Water will be provided on the bus to and from the runway to make sure you stay hydrated.

I no longer want to take part in the Runway Run, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately there are no refunds for this event. With all proceeds from the Runway Run going to Cure Cancer Australia your support will be greatly appreciated even if you can no longer attend the event.
