Swim for a CURE 2026

My target 30 kms

I am swimming for a CURE

This March, I am making a splash for cancer research by taking part in Cure Cancer’s Swim for a CURE. It’s a swimming fundraiser where every stroke helps support important cancer research.

I have set myself a challenge to swim 30 kilometres (18.8 miles) throughout March, and I’m really excited to see how far I can go. Just $75 can fund one hour of life-saving cancer research.

Please help me by donating through my page. It only takes a minute, and any amount you can give, big or small, will really help me reach my goal.

By doing Swim for a CURE, I hope to help fund more cancer research projects.

Thank you so much for supporting me and helping me make a splash for cancer research.

Day 24

Tuesday 24th Mar

I missed squad today because I had netball trials, but I still made sure to get to the pool afterwards and swim 1 km.  Almost there.

8km to Go!

Monday 23rd Mar
Sorry, I have not done a blog post for Days 20, 21 and 22.

Here is what I swam:

Day 20: 1 km
Day 21: 1.6 km
Day 22: 2 km

So now I have just over 8 km to go in my challenge, and only one week left.

I am really happy because I am getting so close now. It has been a lot of swimming, but I am not giving up now.

I am also very excited for the Easter break and eating lots of chocolate :)

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and supported me. Please keep the donations coming in. It really helps me keep going.

Day 17 - Still Kicking

Thursday 19th Mar

Another 1.75 km this afternoon, which means I’m now past the halfway mark of my challenge!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me so far. Your support really helps me keep going.

Please keep sharing what I’m doing so we can raise even more money for cancer research.

Day 16 - Built for Swimming, Not for Early Mornings

Monday 16th Mar

This morning was hard. I was really tired, and it was a real struggle to get out of bed for morning squad, but I still made it there and swam 1 km.

Then after school, I had another squad and swam 1.65 km, bringing my total for today to 2.65 km.

The afternoon session included:

  • Warm up: 600 m

  • Main set: 700 m

  • Final set: 350 m

I was already tired from the morning, so it definitely was not easy.

I also want to say sorry to my dad because I was tired and a bit cranky today.

Some days feel amazing in the water, and some days are just about showing up and doing your best. Today was one of those days.

Day 14 - Back from camp

Sunday 15th Mar

I’m back!

This morning was my first squad session after school camp. Camp was so much fun, but wow, I am definitely tired.

It was not a huge session today, but it still felt really good to get back in the pool after a few days away. I swam 1km this morning and I was really happy to be back doing laps and adding more distance to my challenge

Day 9 - Monday Swim

Monday 9th Mar

No squad today due to the public holiday, but I still got in the pool and swam 800 m to round up my laps!

I am going on a school camp for four nights next week, so there will be no swimming for a few days. I will have to make up some time when I get back.

The pool was quite lovely today and I hope I don’t fall behind after the four-day break because of camp.

Today was an easy swim with mainly freestyle and breaststroke, and I used some equipment like paddles and fins.

Still swimming with hope for a cure!
Good luck to everyone!

See you soon! 🏊‍♀️

Day 8 - Sunday swim

Sunday 8th Mar
Today, there was no squad training, so I went to the pool for a free swim to keep working towards my goal. The pool felt really cold today. Brrr!

I swam 1.2 km, mostly freestyle with some breaststroke mixed in.  Mum helped keep count of my laps so we didn’t lose track.

Tomorrow is a public holiday in Canberra, so there’s no squad again 😞, but I’m still planning to get back in the pool and add some more kilometres.

Day 7 - Club meet

Saturday 7th Mar

Today was a bit different because there was no squad training.

Instead, I had a club meet. I raced in the 50 m freestyle and 50 m breaststroke. Racing is always fun because you get to swim as fast as you can and see how you go against everyone else.

After my races, I still wanted to keep working towards my 30 km challenge, so I jumped back in the pool and swam 1 km.

Total swim today: 1.1 km

Day 6 – Morning Squad Swim

Friday 6th Mar
This morning I was back in the pool for my squad session.

Yesterday (Day 5) was my school swimming carnival. I raced in four events, which added up to 175 m. It wasn’t a huge distance, but every metre counts towards my 30 km Swim for a CURE challenge, right? 🙂

Today’s morning squad session was much bigger. Here’s what I swam:

Warm up – 300 m
200 m Freestyle / Breaststroke
100 m Choice (50 kick, 50 swim)

Set 1 – 400 m
4 × 100 m IM
• 2 swim
• 1 kick with fins
• 1 pull with paddles

Main Set – 400 m
4 × 50 m Freestyle sprint
200 m kick with fins

Cool down – 250 m
6 × 25 m dive
100 m easy swim

Total for the session: 1,350 m

Day 4 – Afternoon Squad Swim

Wednesday 4th Mar
I forgot to take a photo of my Day 3 Tuesday afternoon swim, but I did 1 km in that session.

For the Day 4 Wednesday afternoon squad, I must admit I rocked up a little late. Because of that, I only managed a 100 m warm-up instead of the full one.

After that, this is what I swam:

Set One – Pull (x2)
2 × 50 m freestyle pull with paddles
2 × 25 m breaststroke pull
1 × 50 m backstroke pull with paddles

Set Two – Fins
4 × 25 m freestyle with paddle on head
2 × 50 m slow finger trail

100 m DPS (distance per stroke)
100 m freestyle
100 m breaststroke
100 m backstroke
100 m butterfly

Warm down
200 m easy swim

Even though I was a little late, I still managed to get a solid 1.4km swim in and keep adding to my kilometres for the challenge. Every swim gets me a bit closer to my 30 km goal for March.

Its my school Swimming Gala tomorrow.  Wish me luck

Day 2 – Monday PM Squad

Monday 2nd Mar
Back in the pool again tonight after school for squad.

We started with 8 × 50 for warm up on 10 seconds rest.

Then we did 3 rounds of:
4 × 25 streamline kick
200 free kick with fins (fast between the flags)

After that it was 2 × 300 with fins, starting each one with 10 metres underwater into fast freestyle and building the rest.

We finished with dive drills.

Total for tonight: 1,900 metres.
Total for the day: 3.1 KM

Two swims in one day and I’m definitely feeling it now.
Until tomorrow.💙🏊‍♀️

Day 2 – Monday morning Squad Swim

Monday 2nd Mar

Up at 5am and straight to the pool for squad. It was still dark outside, but I felt good getting started early.

Here’s what we did:

Warm up

200 swim (freestyle and backstroke)

2 x 50 choice drill

100 streamline kick

Set 1

2 x 50 scull/swim by 25

4 x 50 choice pull

Main set

2 x 200 freestyle

2 x 50 kick

This morning I swam a total of 1,200 metres, which is another step towards my 30km goal for Swim for a CURE.

Now I’m off to school, and then back to the pool for squad again tonight 💙🏊‍♀️
