I am swimming for a CURE

This March, I am making a splash for cancer research. Cure Cancer’s Swim for a CURE is a swimming fundraiser where every stroke counts in the mission to help fund vital cancer research. Just $75 funds one hour of life-saving cancer research.

THE FINAL PUSH

Friday 27th Mar
Just four days to go! I'm cutting down on trips to the pool to save fuel, so so I will be swimming more laps each time to finish the last 7 km and reach my 50 km goal for March. I only have two chances left to get to the pool, so I’ll really be pushing myself to finish strong.

Although I won’t reach my fundraising goal, there’s still time to increase the total. 

At least by sharing my swimming efforts, I hope to have raised more awareness about the importance of funding research to find a cure for cancer.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me so far — it truly means a lot to me and to everyone whose lives are affected by cancer.

Almost there

Wednesday 25th Mar
Only 9 kilometers left to reach my goal of 50 km for the  Swim for a Cure fund raiser. With just 4 planned swim session before the end date of March 31st I should be able to achieve that goal. Unfortunately I'm only half way to my aim of raising $1000 towards cancer research. This is understandable considering the financial burden placed on everyone with since the start of events in the Middle East.

Thursday 12th Mar
Slowly getting the laps in and after club training this morning I have now completed 22.2km of the 50km for March. Not bad for an old girl like me. 

Donations have reached half of what I'm aiming to raise so maybe I need to go door knocking in the neighbourhood.
