How do I make a donation?
Using the form above, first, select Bitcoin, Ethereum or another cryptocurrency you want to donate from the dropdown, and enter your donation amount in the crypto of your choice or in US dollars.
Next, fill out some basic information about you (optional), and enter an email address where you would like to receive a tax receipt.
Third, a dynamic wallet address will be generated for your donation which is linked directly to Cure Cancer's charity wallet. The Giving Block uses dynamic wallet addresses to protect your privacy, but these addresses can be re-used if you’d like! Use this to send the cryptocurrency from your wallet or exchange account.
I need a wallet address to make my cryptocurrency donation. Where do I find this information?
You can access Cure Cancer's wallet address with the widget above. Once you enter the type of cryptocurrency and reach the third step, you will receive a unique wallet address which can be used to complete your donation.
For cryptocurrencies that exist on multiple networks, like Polygon (MATIC) which exists as an ERC-20 token on Etherum and its own network, which one do I choose to donate?
Scrolling through the supported assets on The Giving Block widget will show whether or not the token is an ERC-20. In these cases, The Giving Block will likely accept the Ethereum (ERC-20) version of a token which lives on multiple networks. Always verify which one is supported before donating.
Can I claim a tax benefit?
In many jurisdictions, donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes. This makes Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax efficient ways to support your favorite cause. If you want to learn more about how donating crypto can lower your taxes, check out thegivingblock.com/faq.
Talk to a crypto-savvy tax professional in your area or connect with The Giving Block to get connected with one.
Donors can choose to receive a tax receipt via email. This will arrive as soon as your donation has received the minimum amount of confirmations on the blockchain, so keep a lookout for it. If you can’t see it, double check your spam or junk mail, and contact The Giving Block if you require it to be resent.
Be sure to file away your tax receipt in a safe location that is accessible when filing your tax return and use it for proof of your donation.
How is my gift secured?
Unlike traditional transaction methods such as credit card payments and ACH or wire transactions, which can take days to process completely and clear, sending bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies directly to a nonprofit only takes around 10 minutes until the nonprofit receives the funds.
This means donors can almost instantly verify the receipt of their gift by the nonprofit from anywhere in the world. If you provide an email address at the time of donation, you’ll have a receipt emailed as soon as the transaction is confirmed.
Because a blockchain relies on networks of thousands of computers to verify transactions, it is nearly impossible to tamper with the ledger. This layer of security should put donors at ease, especially when making large financial gifts. Even better—for nonprofits, there’s no risk of chargebacks like there are with credit cards.
Nonprofits using The Giving Block’s donation platform have custody and liquidity provided by Gemini, a licenced trust company that is regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS), an industry and world leader in cryptocurrency security and regulatory compliance.
The Giving Block was built with a security first mindset.

Crypto donations to Cure Cancer through The Giving Block will immediately and automatically auto-convert into currency at market value at the time of donation.
