Help improve outcomes for rare cancer patients

It is estimated that in 2019 there were 2,613 cases of rare cancer diagnosed in Australia (Cancer Australia, 2019).

Supporting brilliant and emerging researchers with innovative ideas gives us the best possible chance of finding a cure.

Every dollar you donate can make a real difference to our mission. Together, we can cure cancer.

What are rare cancers?

Rare cancer is a term that encompasses both rare and less common cancers. A rare cancer is defined as a type of cancer that has less than 6 incidences per year per 100,000 population. A less common cancer is defined as one that has between 6 and 12 incidences per year per 100,000 population.

It is estimated that 42,000 people are diagnosed with a form of rare or less common cancer in Australia every year.

What is the prognosis for rare cancer?

Rare cancers are a broad and diverse group of cancers that include cancers with a wide range of incidence and survival outcomes. Prognosis will vary between individuals.

Cure Cancer funds research across all cancer types, including rare cancers.
