Digital Content Assistant

About the Role

Are you detail-oriented with a knack for digital organisation? Join us as a Volunteer Digital Content Assistant and help ensure our website is easy to navigate, clean, and up to date. Your work will support our digital presence and help amplify the life-saving research we fund.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and clean up website tags and categories

  • Write clear and concise meta descriptions to support SEO

  • Help manage our media library by organising images and video assets

  • Support the team in keeping web content tidy and consistent

Ideal Skills & Experience

  • Comfortable with content management systems (e.g. WordPress)

  • Basic understanding of SEO and metadata

  • Strong attention to detail and organisation

  • Ability to work independently and manage your own time

Video Content Creator

About the Role

Do you love telling stories through video and animation? As a Volunteer Video Content Creator, you’ll create short videos and reels for our website and social media platforms. Whether it’s editing footage or bringing graphics to life with simple animation tools like Canva, you’ll help us share the incredible work of our researchers and community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and produce reels and short-form videos

  • Animate text and graphics using Canva or similar tools

  • Support the team in producing content for social media and web

  • Ensure all content reflects Cure Cancer’s tone and branding

Ideal Skills & Experience

  • Experience with video editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Canva)

  • A good eye for visual storytelling and social media content

  • Understanding of platform specs (Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, etc.)

  • Ability to collaborate with a creative team and work independently

Telemarketing Volunteer

As a telemarketing volunteer, you’ll assist us with marketing and fundraising campaigns, incite interest in our cause, as well as creating direct email/mail appeals and telemarketing campaigns to help us reach out to prospective donors.

Requirements
As a charity, we rely on the kindness of donors to keep supporting life saving cancer research. Outreach is important to us, and that’s why we’d prefer if you have:

  • Excellent communication skills, telephone etiquette, patience & persuasion, preferably with a marketing background
  • Be comfortable speaking on the phone with several people each day to discuss charity services and other work-related
  • Have previous fundraising experience
Responsibilities
  • Contribute your skills to help us in raising funds to assist the everyday work of Cure Cancer.
  • Place phone calls to donors from our directory and approach new corporates
Commitment Requested
  • We request a minimum commitment of 3 hours on a weekday between 10.00 am – 2.00pm Monday-Wednesday for at least 1 month.
  • Your rostering of hours and days will be negotiated with you to meet your availabilities as a volunteer and the needs of the service.
  • We are committed to upholding the Volunteering Australia’s National Standards for Involving Volunteers. That’s why the engagement of ongoing volunteers is generally restricted to a maximum of 16 hours per week.

Fundraising Office Assistant

Volunteers are a growing part of our team, both in size and in importance, and we look to them for help with:
  • Processing and responding to correspondence
  • Typing and sending acknowledgement letters
  • Donation processing and reconciliation
  • Answering incoming phone calls and emails
  • Updating the database and maintaining records
In Memory: For those who have recently lost a loved one, Cure Cancer helps support their legacy with an In Memory page. This includes sending the family a Cure Cancer lapel pin and donation forms for the funeral. We need help putting the lapel pins together and simply involved some ribbon and a safety pin to form the symbol of hope.

Fitness packs: We have over 1000 runners competing in marathons and fundraising for Cure Cancer. To express our gratitude, Cure Cancer provides a fitness pack with a singlet top, hat and other bits to keep up the motivation. We need help calling the runners, finding out what size their singlet top is, and sending the pack to them.

Office volunteering

Role and details

Purpose: To assist in various administration and organisational tasks at the Cure Cancer office in Sydney. Responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the team, but are likely to involve:

  • Data inputting, filing and other general admin tasks
  • Stock control
  • Assistance in event organisation

Times: Our office hours are Monday – Wednesday 9am – 5pm. Shifts are flexible to suit our volunteers.

  • Able to follow directions and provide feedback

Some office experience and understanding of an office environment are beneficial.

Training

A Cure Cancer staff member will be assigned to offer instruction, direction and help whenever you are on-site.
