Registrations for the Acer High School Cup are open and for every student who signs up to join the High School League, the Australian Esports League will be donating $2 to Cure Cancer.

When it comes to strong ties with charitable gaming communities, Cure Cancer is already ahead of the curve. Joining forces with Australia’s leading esports promoter Australian Esports League (AEL), we’re taking things to the next level, building and strengthening a community of dedicated gamers who are just as passionate about making a positive social impact.

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

The AEL provides players of all skill levels the opportunity to participate in esports and build local communities of like-minded players. They do this via a number of competitions that feature a broad range of video games. These include:

  • The Acer High Schools Cup

  • A national University Cup recognised by UniSport Australia

  • National Team selections for events like the Commonwealth Esports Championships

  • International Esports World Championships and the Global Esports Games

  • Local and online tournaments for all ages and skill levels across Australia

  • Other gaming events

Students who participate will be honing cognitive, team building, communication, and sportspersonship skills - they’ll also be doing it for a great cause – to help Cure Cancer!

The programs provide participants across Australia with a well-structured competitive environment to compete in video games, all for a great cause. What’s more, for every student who signs up to join the High School League, the AEL will be donating $2 to Cure Cancer. That's right, just by playing games and having fun, you can make a real impact in the fight against cancer!

GAMING: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in video games and esports to pursue their passion. Participants will be honing cognitive, team building, communication, and sportspersonship skills -they’ll also be doing it for a great cause – to help Cure Cancer.

In addition, studies show that students who participate in esports may have increased confidence, empathy, peer acceptance, and leadership skills. They may benefit from improved strategic thinking, problem solving, reading comprehension, and the development of digital skills.

Beyond succeeding as a professional player, participants can also explore their interests in commentary, referee admin, events, coaching, journalism, video, business, marketing, and many other skills!

Esports can pave the way to other careers in the video games industry for those interested in games design, coding, development, publishing, and more.

Not only will you be doing your part to support cancer research, but you'll also be joining a community of like-minded gamers who share your passion for esports. It's a win-win situation!
