Courageous Living

By George Levendis

A $5 donation is all that’s needed.

A waterfall starts with just one drop.

Your $5 'drop' is all that's needed to help reach $100,000.

$100,000 will fund 1 year of cancer research so that’s the target.

Together, we can do it!

Colouring my hair is my way of getting everyone’s attention.

If we all donated $5, and were able to encourage 2 other people we knew to do the same, then we will achieve the target very easily.

All we need is 20,000 people! That’s not even viral!

The more people that know about Cure Cancer, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

2025 Edition

Thursday 5th Jun
The fundraiser has been restarted and this time I am going to stick with it till our target of $100,000 is reached. Please, help me by sharing my page with as many as possible as 20,000 people should not be hard to reach with social media.

A huge thank you to Petene from Colour Collective , Maroochydore for her support, creativeness and excellent skills to produce this Dennis Rodman inspired work of art from a picture that Haidee showed us. It is definitely a 'head turner' and has already generated a lot of conversation and donations have restarted.

$5 is all that is needed, thank you.

Micro Funding Waterfall - a little goes a long way

Sunday 17th Mar
I am sure you have heard of micro-funding. When a huge number of people contribute a small amount large targets can be met. One of my favourite movies is The Power of One. There is a scene where PK's headmaster asks him why he thinks he can make a difference. PK's answers was, "a waterfall starts with just one drop".  I am optimistic that if we all make even a small donation AND just as importantly  ENCOURAGE  at least 2 others to do so as well, then the exponential multiplying effect will generate a huge number of people. Please do make a small donation, share the page widely and encourage at least 2 others to donate too. Thank you for your efforts in advance.
The target of $100,000 can be reached with just 10,000 people donating  $10, or 20,000 donating $5. Years ago I read Richard Branson's book on how he started Virgin Records and then Virgin Atlantic. He always used publicity stunts to generate interest. Hair colour draws attention and comments but if anyone can think of a suitable publicity stunt then that will help as well! Stay tuned for blogs on what $100,000 can achieve for cancer research and the story behind the colours chosen. Thanks again to all those who have donated already. :) Let's be part of a waterfall of funding!

Courageous Living

Wednesday 13th Mar
There are many courageous people in the world but I would like to focus on those that have endured or enduring various forms of cancer, and remember those who have succumbed. These people face the prospect of what is usually a premature imminent death. How they face that, enduring the pain of the cancer and the treatment, and still be an inspiration to others is to me, very courageous living.
There is a lady who has a young family who is now in full remission and is not ashamed of her chemo induced baldness but displays it as a trophy of her victory.
There is a man who had a growth in his throat the size of a large sauasage who's treatment has eliminated this massive cancer. He hardly ever wavered in his stoicism, ever being cheerful and upbeat around others.
Then the man who has prostate cancer and then had the news that it could have spread to his lungs, yet still remained positive, cheerful and full of encouragement.
A lady I know  sadly succumbed to breast cancer, after being in remission before the cancer returned.
These people still ask me how I am when the important question is how are they getting on. And their answers are very similar, being  various ways of saying "I'm ok, and consider myself lucky, as there is someone out there worse than me".
Courageous living is enduring the pain and consequences whilst still being an inspiration to others.
These people who epitomise courageous living deserve our support.
Your donation will help cancer research find ways to alleviate and eventually prevent so many cancers.
Please be generous as we do not know if one of those close to us will be the next to suffer.

It’s D Day

Wednesday 13th Mar
Just a normal early start to what is going to be a great day! Angela  and I have the pleasure of owning management rights for the Waves Maroochy River building in Maroochydore. In our building we know of 5 owners who have or had cancer. One recently died. And if we include extended family then the number grows quickly.  My father died of kidney cancer and my grandfather had bladder cancer. Time to help the cause to “Cure Cancer”. At 64 having a bald head would surprise no one. Cutting white/grey hair would not help either. So COLOUR is the only option to make people stop and take notice! The Colour Collective in Maroochydore is where it’s happening at 12:15pm today!  Petene will work her magic and transform my aging grey/white hair, kindly described as silver fox, to a multi coloured creation.
